Did You Know Your Trash Is a Treasure Trove of Weapons Waiting To Happen? [Video]

Our favorite crazy slingshot maker, Joerg Sprave, can seemingly turn anything into a weapon. And recently his scavenging skills were put to the ultimate test when a magazine challenged him to turn everyday trash into an improvised arsenal. More »

Video of ICS on an Xperia S will whet your whistle until the real thing drops

Xperia S

First the Xperia S was going to get Ice Cream Sandwich in mid-April, then late May or early June, then finally sometime in Q2 (which will probably be June, just not early June). As the days drag on and your appetite for Android 4.0 grows, we're happy to bring you tidbits when we can that can satiate the incredible desire for the latest and greatest.

Our friends over at XperiaBlog happened to get their hands on a leaked video of Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, running on an Xperia S (courtesy of Sony XP). A couple of highlights include Sony's take on the lock screen, a slick music player, and a gorgeous, streamlined gallery.

I've always said seeing is believing, though, so we've got said video after the break.

Scientists Discover Sperm-Crippling Gene That Could Lead to Non-Hormonal Male Contraceptives [Science]

Boffins in Edinburgh, Scotland have discovered that a single mutated gene in male mice can inhibit the last stages of sperm development, thus inducing infertility. As a result, we are that much closer to hormone-free, reversible, and surgery-free male contraception. More »

A Bit Too Much Klout: User Says He Can Sign In To Someone Else?s Account

kloutIt's not clear if this is a one-off glitch, a signal of a bigger issue -- or a way of pumping up/sabotaging Klout scores for those who care. But it's not great news any way you spin it, if it's true:a Klout user has gotten in touch to say that when he accesses the social influence ratings service, he is getting signed in to Klout not as himself but as someone else. Using an HTC Sensation device running the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android, IT consultant Halil Kabaca,of Istanbul, Turkey-based Novarum Consulting, tells us that when he goes on to Klout via the phone's mobile browser, he is being signed in automatically as someone completely different -- someone he doesn't know at all who happens to work for Adobe in business development (see screenshots of Kabaca's and the other guy's profiles after the break).

Sprint says thank you, gives patient subs free EVO 4G LTE cases

Waiting for the EVO 4G LTE to ship turned out to be much less of an exercise in Godot-like interminability than many subscribers once thought. That handset's now firmly in the hands of pre-order customers and to thank them for their (presumed) patience, Sprint's bundling a thank you gift with every parcel. As shown above, that make-good comes in the form of a smartphone case -- a Superman-colored one at that -- although we would've much preferred an extended battery. See, folks? You stand by your carrier and you get rewarded. That two-year contract had to be good for something.
